Parrot Bebop 2 Power Specification

Overview

The Parrot Bebop 2 Power is a Multirotors drone that was released by Parrot in 2017.

A multirotor drone is a multiple propeller, vertical lift drone. These drones are more maneuverable due to their flight profile, being able to fly much closer to buildings and other obstacles. Multi-rotor drones like the Parrot Bebop 2 Power also tend to be faster to deploy, and tend to be significantly cheaper to acquire and operate.

The battery capacity inside is 3350 mAh.

Performance

The Parrot Bebop 2 Power falls within an 'average' speed of drones with a max speed of around 65 km/h. If you're a beginner or even an intermediate drone user, than this should still be plenty. if you're looking for something a bit faster however, it'd be best to keep looking.

Falling inside a decent flight range for drones at 2 km, you'd be safe to fly it outside of line-of-sight. You won't be disappearing to the other side of the city, but you will get more than enough range for average and above-average usage.

The drone sits well within an average flight time when compared to other drones, with a maximum flight time of 30 min. This flight time will be plenty of the average user, and should give you more than enough time between charges. You can always bring an extra battery to swap out between flights, or just a battery pack to charge it up as you go should you need a little more flight time.

The Bebop 2 Power is great fun to fly, offers excellent battery life and lots of useful automated functions that let you concentrate on capturing video or images. However, the actual image quality lets it down slightly. Between the Bebop 2 Power and DJI Spark, the Parrot drone is the more fun to fly, whereas the DJI Spark captures the better footage.

While the Bebop 2 Power represents a modest improvement on the previous model, it remains one of the best-value drones on the market right now thanks to its portable design, excellent performance, intuitive companion app and decent stamina.

This souped-up drone outflies its predecessor, but doesn’t fix all its problems

Parrot hasn’t gone far enough here. While the company has fixed one of the Bebop 2’s biggest issues, it hasn’t addressed the other at all. Sure, the extra battery life and transmission range is nice, but the dreadful camera needed fixing too. While DJI is going from strength to strength, Parrot is hovering in place. There’s really no reason to buy the Bebop 2 over the similarly-priced DJI Phantom 3.

The Bebop 2 Power is really a dual-purpose drone. You can use it for shooting cinematic footage or dart around at 40mph and have fun with the FPV headset. It's large batteries mean it flies for longer than its competitors, but the downside is that it isn't as portable because it doesn't fold up.

Best Simple Video Drone

The $599 Parrot Bebop 2 Power FPV offers a lot of features for the price. You get a drone that can take great video and photos, and flying fast if you want to try racing. The FPV headset is also comfortable to use, and produces a great feeling of being in the pilot's seat. If you're looking for something more compact, the DJI Spark is a good option; its Fly More pack costs $650, and includes an extra battery and charger, but no FPV goggles. For casual drone users who want the FPV experience, and to shoot HD video, the Bebop 2 is a great pick.
