PowerVision PowerEgg X Specification

Overview

The PowerVision PowerEgg X is a Multirotors drone that was released by PowerVision in 2020.

A multirotor drone is a multiple propeller, vertical lift drone. These drones are more maneuverable due to their flight profile, being able to fly much closer to buildings and other obstacles. Multi-rotor drones like the PowerVision PowerEgg X also tend to be faster to deploy, and tend to be significantly cheaper to acquire and operate.

The battery capacity inside is 3800 mAh.

Performance

The PowerVision PowerEgg X sits on the slower side of drones, with a max speed sitting around 10 m/s. This might not be a bad thing though, so it really depends on why you're looking at buying the drone. If you're happy with a slightly slower drone then this one could be what you're after.

With a well above the average maximum range of 6 km, you're guaranteed a long-distance flight. Be assured you'll reach the distance you need, from the comfort of your mobile office, or even your couch, and know that your drone won't just disappear off into the distance.

The drone sits well within an average flight time when compared to other drones, with a maximum flight time of 30 min. This flight time will be plenty of the average user, and should give you more than enough time between charges. You can always bring an extra battery to swap out between flights, or just a battery pack to charge it up as you go should you need a little more flight time.

The Powervision Poweregg X drone can land and take off on water

The Poweregg X has the one feature you can’t find on any of DJI’s drones: water resistance. The ability not just to be able to land and take off from the water, but to be able to withstand bad weather means that you can take the Poweregg X to places where other drones can’t go. While its video and flying abilities aren’t up to the level of DJI’s class-leading drones, the Poweregg’s 4K camera can record footage that’s fairly high quality. And, it’s great to get awesome shots of skimming low over the water, and not have to worry about losing your drone in the drink.

The PowerEgg X drone is incredibly versatile – it can fly in rain and even land on water. It does a lot, but does it do anything well?

The ambition of the PowerEgg X drone is extraordinary, and must be saluted. It beats much pricier competitors when it comes to weatherproofing and is fast and stable in the air even in difficult conditions. Switching from one mode to the next can be a little fiddly, and the software does have a few rough edges, but overall this is a great drone which packs a lot in the shell.

The PowerVision PowerEgg X Wizard can fly in all weather, float on water and be used as a ground-based stabilised camera with face recognition technology. Granted, it’s camera isn’t quite up to the standard of DJI roster but everything else about this drone screams 'buy me'.

A modular, waterproof drone that’s much more than a drone

The PowerEgg X Wizard is a surprisingly good drone to fly and provides a great deal of stability in the air thanks to the large propellers. Image quality is good, if not outstanding. The lack of Raw video formats may put off some professional videographers, though photographers will be pleased to know that Raw stills can be captured in DNG format. But it’s the waterproof housing and floats for landing on water that make this unique drone stand out from the crowd.
