The DJI FPV is a high-performance quadcopter that comes with a number of features to help you get the perfect shot. This drone has four propellers and can reach speeds of up to 27 m/s, so it's easy to fly even when the wind picks up. The max range on this drone is 16 km, and the max flight time is 20 minutes - plenty of time for capturing those perfect shots. It also comes with a 2-axis gimbal for getting those 12 MP photos of your subject. If you're interested in capturing 4K video, you'll be happy to know that this aircraft supports that as well. Add to that is its built-in obstacle avoidance sensors that allow for effortless and worry-free flying. To top it all off, the DJI FPV is controllable by your smartphone, so you don’t have to fight with joysticks on the controller. It’s safe to say that this drone has it all! If you’re in the market for a drone that shoots high-quality video, you can’t go wrong with the DJI FPV. It’s loaded with features, comes with a long range, and allows you to fly with ease thanks to its obstacle avoidance and intuitive controls. The only potential downside is the price. At around $1,300, this drone is a significant investment. However, if you’re serious about your drone photography or videography, it’s likely that you’ll get your money back over time thanks to the excellent quality of these shots.

If you have a familiarity with FPV drones, I think you can’t go wrong with the DJI FPV. Whether you like it or not it will largely depend on your preference — do you like mounting a GoPro instead of the built-in DJI camera, or you just enjoy the DIY aspect of it all and want to customize your quads to your liking? For me, it has been an absolute blast to fly this around and, yes, sometimes it’s been sort of stressful. But for many of you, myself included, it might be worth spending a bit more time in FPV simulators before spending too much on the whole kit. Once I feel ready, DJI FPV will be on the top of my list.

A fun but flawed FPV drone for beginners
  • - 3.5
The DJI FPV is fun in capital letters – its first-person view provides an incredibly immersive flying experience thanks to the amazing DJI Goggles, not to mention equally compelling video footage from the forward-facing camera. But it’s not all plain sailing. With a real-world flight time of around 10 minutes, high cost when you factor in essential accessories and the difficulty in pulling off true FPV acrobatics, it's significantly more complex and niche than DJI's other drones.

Serious hybrid racing drone
  • - 4.7
The DJI FPV is a fantastic hybrid drone. It takes the very best from both the racing drone scene and the camera drone experience, making for one of the most exciting flying machines around. Blending the two has compromises, including shorter flight times than camera drone pilots would like, and agility that may not keep up on a tougher race

Experience the thrills of first person view flight with DJI's sensational speed freak

The DJI FPV drone is a sensational introduction to the thrills and spills of immersive first person view flight. Yes, it's not cheap and yes you will probably crash it, but we can think of no better way for financially-flush goggle-wearing wannabe pilots to indulge in the art of freeform flying and high-speed hijinks.

The popular DJI FPV drone makes FPV flying a little less scary and much more accessible to newcomers

FPV flying is tricky and definitely not to be recommended as a first drone. But for more seasoned flyers, one flight with the DJI FPV will likely have you hooked. Just don’t crash it unless you have rather deep pockets.

This drone makes you feel like Superman

Unlike its other models on our best drones page, such as the DJI Mini 2, the DJI FPV isn’t intended as a camera drone. Rather it’s aimed at those who want to get a taste of drone racing. That’s why the DJI FPV comes with not only the drone and a controller, but a pair of first-person goggles that puts you in the pilot’s seat. And, to help novices, it has three flight modes, from Normal to Oh My Gosh That’s Fast.
