With a range that falls under the 1km mark at 0.1 km, it's definitely on the lower side of drones. This will be plenty for an occasional, line of sight flight drone, particularly with toys, but if you're looking to fly something with a little more range than this drone definitely isn't for you.

Flight time isn't amazing with the Holy Stone HS170 Predator at 8 min, so if you're after a drone that can go and go, this won't be it. You might find yourself swapping out the batteries, or just recharging the drone a bit more often than you would with others. Great for a toy, but not for any sort of serious hobby or professional use.

The HS170 Predator Mini RC Helicopter Drone is, all things considered, a lot of fun in a pretty affordable package. We have no doubt that buyers (and gift recipients) of this drone will enjoy it for however long it lasts. While you will forgo a lot of the more advanced flight features that make modern drone piloting so accessible, this drone does provide a wonderful platform to learn the basics. Just be warned that there’s a steep learning curve.

If you're looking for something small and simple that can fly through indoor obstacle courses without damaging itself or your house, the Holy Stone HS170 Predator certainly fits the bill. This drone can buzz around inside with decent agility, but is light enough and has sturdy enough propellors guards that collisions with walls or bookcases are unlikely to leave any marks. However, we still think the EACHINE E010 Mini fits this niche a bit better, and costs significantly less. Additionally, the Predator's controller requires 6 AA batteries, while the EACHINE's only needs 2. Therefore, we would only suggest buying the Predator if you can find it on sale for less than the EACHINE.

Even though it does have some minor drawbacks, they’re easily fixed if you tape the battery wire together to prevent loosen ends and calibrating the drone properly. Because the HS170 Predator mini drone only comes with one battery when you order it on Amazon. I highly recommend that you should buy this battery pack with the drone.Besides, the HS170 Predator Mini drone is quite a darn good quadcopter choice for beginners under $50. It’s quite a surprise to see how strong this drone is still going even to this date. If you’ve never flown a drone before, then you might want to consider buying an HS170 Predator mini-drone as your first choice.

The HS170 Predator is a bit rough around the edges with its exposed cables and unmarked controls, but it's still a great value and a lot of fun to fly. Its variable levels of responsiveness will appeal to both newbies and advanced pilots, and it has plenty of room to grow into as your skills advance as well. Just be sure to stock up on extra propellers.
